Thai Airways International PCL (THAI) is preparing to relist its shares on the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) in early August 2025, marking a triumphant exit from its court-supervised rehabilitation plan.

The announcement by the flag carrier’s CEO, Chai Eamsiri, follows the Central Bankruptcy Court’s June 16th ruling confirming the carrier’s full compliance with all restructuring conditions, including a remarkable financial turnaround and appointment of a new board. The airline, once burdened by more than THB400 billion in debt, now boasts positive shareholder equity of THB55 billion and has delivered steady quarterly profits since 2023.

Backed by rising passenger numbers (especially from Europe) and the approach of Thailand’s peak tourism season, Thai Airways’ relisting is being framed as an attractive opportunity for investors. The airline also recently ranked third in DestinAsian’s Best Airlines category, reinforcing its standing in the Asia-Pacific region.

“New Worlds” of fresh flight experiences

Celebrating its 65th anniversary, Thai Airways is ushering in what it calls The New Worlds of Tomorrow, a sweeping transformation of the passenger experience. By the end of 2025, the fleet will welcome the fuel-efficient Airbus A321neo, ideal for high-frequency regional routes. This new aircraft will feature premium Royal Silk Class seating by Thompson Aero with lie-flat beds, advanced connectivity, and exclusive in-flight offerings. These include caviar service and a SIRIVANNAVARI-designed amenity kit.Economy Class passengers will also benefit from the latest ergonomic Recaro seating, personal entertainment screens, and device-friendly USB ports. A revamped in-flight magazine, Sawasdee, returns in print and digital formats, while the “Street to Sky” dining initiative will bring Thai street food from iconic vendors like Thipsamai and Jay Fai into the skies.

Smart travel partnerships

In a nod to the digital traveler, Thai Airways has teamed up with Samsung to offer boarding pass access via Samsung Wallet, becoming the first Thai airline to implement such integration. The move aligns with the airlines’ broader goal of developing a seamless, dare we say, “smooth as silk” digital ecosystem for passengers, including CRM-linked benefits and onboard Wi-Fi for Royal Orchid Plus members.

As Thai Airways charts its course toward long-term growth, the relisting signals not only a financial rebound but also the dawn of a modern, customer-focused national carrier replete with premium, innovative features, with just a touch of THAI.
